The 13th edition of Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF 2008) commences on January 24 and runs till February 24, 2008. The dates were officially revealed by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Department of Civil Aviation, Chairman & Chief Executive, Emirates Airlines & Group, & Chairman of DSF Supreme Committee. The slogan & underlying theme of the month-long festival would be as usual, ‘One Family, One World & One Festival'.
DSF 2008 will focus on 3 elements that have to characterize the annual event - Shopping, winning and family entertainment. A yearly cultural extravaganza, since February 1996, Dubai Shopping Festival has raised the bar for family entertainment. In addition, it has accelerated the economic growth of the region by ushering in multi-million dollar entertainment and hospitality ventures, aside from ambitious real estate projects in the UAE. It was DSF that made the world sit up and take notice of Dubai as a modern city.
What is Dubai Shopping Festival (or Layali Dubai, in Arabic)?
Dubai Shopping Festival was conceived purely as an annual retail event to promote trade in Dubai. Now as part of the festivities, Dubai lays down the red carpet for shoppers during the month-long Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) with over 3000 retail outlets offering everything imaginable, from gold, perfume, haute couture, cars, electronics to handicrafts and textiles. Most hotels & malls offer great discounts during the period, even the world famous Burj Al Arab chips in. Besides the discounts, there are loads of raffles with very attractive prizes.
