All credit to the efforts of the government of Dubai in creating the splendid Burj Dubai.  Burj Dubai, designed as the world's tallest building, has just surpassed the height of the Sears Tower, which is currently America's tallest building at 1,450 ft. Both the landmarks have been designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM). The actual height of the Burj Dubai is still a secret but will be above 2,300 ft. and will surpass the current world's tallest building record holder, Taipei 101, in July later this year. The Burj Dubai will be the center of a large scale, mixed-use development comprised of residential, commercial, hotel, entertainment, shopping and leisure outlets with open green spaces, water features, pedestrian boulevards, a shopping mall and a tourist-oriented old town.  All this will make Dubai an exciting city, which is set to attract more and more visitors from world over. Upon completion, the Burj Dubai will be the tallest building in the world in all four (spire height, the highest occupied floor, roof height and pinnacle height) categories recognized by the Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), which compiles and ranks the world's tallest buildings.
