| Participants from some 10 countries are expected to take part in the “Art and Antiques Dubai 2008” exhibition to be held in the emirate from February 21 to 24, organisers said yesterday.
The event, said organisers, would further promote Dubai as an ideal destination for hosting art events.
The exhibition will be held under the patronage of Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, the UAE Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, and will be supported by Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing. Among the items to be showcased at the exhibition will be a porcelain object presented by King Augustus the Third of Poland, to his wife Queen Maria Josepha. The object dates to 1745. There will also be a collection of paintings, contemporary art, ceramics, pottery, sculptures, jewellery, glass, clocks and furniture. Shaikha Al Moutaweh, event deputy manager of DTCM said, “We are backing this exhibition as it’s unique.”
